July 18, 2022- PHILADELPHIA: WISTA USA Delaware River and Bay Chapter will be presenting “Women Making Waves 2022 The State of Women in the Maritime Industry: Taking on Hard Challenges event on August 2nd at The Union League of Philadelphia.  As a prelude to the event, the WISTA USA chapter will be presenting the newly appointed Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, Admiral Linda L. Fagan, with its Leadership Award of Excellence.

“The purpose of this seminar is to gather professionals in the maritime sector and other business leaders to celebrate and honor the new 27th Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, Admiral Linda L. Fagan, by awarding her the Leadership Award of Excellence” stated WISTA Chapter Co-President Cynthia Hudson, CEO of HudsonAnalytix. “Admiral Fagan is the first woman commandant and the first woman to head any branch of the U.S. Armed Services, which is a groundbreaking achievement.”

The presentation of the Award, including remarks by Admiral Fagan, will be followed by a panel of maritime industry leaders who will share their experiences of achieving success in the maritime industry despite many challenges.  Moderated by Ms. Hudson, the panel includes Dorothea Ioannou, who will become CEO of the American P&I Club on August 1; Helen Brohl who is the Executive Director of the US Committee on Marine Transportation; Lisa Himber, the President of the Delaware River Maritime Exchange; and Christiana Liviakis Gianopulos, who is President of WISTA USA and Director of Business Development for American Ship Repair.

The cost to attend the Awards presentation and seminar is $35. There are only 100 seats available, so it is suggested that you reserve your ticket as soon as possible by July 28 through this link. The seminar hosted by WISTA will be followed by “Armed Services Council: Coast Guard Birthday,“ a luncheon hosted by The Union League of Philadelphia beginning at 11:30 AM.  A separate registration of $50 (plus tax and gratuity) is required and may be arranged by contacting Jessica Infante, Member Events Senior Manager, Union League of Philadelphia infantej@unionleague.org.
